The artist Kaffe Mathews, summons a mystical reunion in the darkest corner of Galloway and invites people to sit and watch the stars.
Stellar observation room in Scotland's forests /
A few wooden chairs and padded space suits make up Kaffe Matthews' piece, it was created by the English artist and composer in collaboration with film-maker, McIntosh. Yird Muin Stam (Earth Moon Star in ancient Scottish), is a sort of magical meeting place dedicated to astronomic observation.
Accompanying the piece is a vinyl with music composed by both artists that was inspired by space. The music plays while you're dressed as an astronaut (something that resembles cosmic pajamas). The entire piece is meant to encourage the observation of the sky from the forest, where light pollution is scarce.
The opening of the project was on the 2nd of February, with chairs being offered to anyone who wishes to feel space. Sometimes we need a little bit of production -even if it is allegorical- to simply look up at the sky. Here we are reminded of the importance of the profound contemplation of nature.Tagged: cosmos, creativity, astronomy, contemplation, nature, Scotland, Kaffe Matthews
